Isn’t the Price We Pay for Space Exploration a Little High? It is so much fun to watch how science fiction stories become reality – like laser guns and genetic engineering. Due to all the talks about ecology, more and more plots tell us about some kind of huge disasters that threaten humankind and make the bravest go find a new shelter in the outer space. If you take ecological threats seriously, they seem to be good reasons for space exploration. Humankind has already been out of the Earth. It’s been over 50 years since then. And where have we gone so far? Not too far. The biggest use we are getting from space being explored is satellite communication, which was invented back during so called â€Å"arms race† – a long time ago. The path that space engineering has proceeded by during this half of century is too short if we compare it to mechanical engineering, for example: from first Benz’s bus with internal-combustion engine that could barely go 15mph to luxury cars of today. The reason I brought up this example is to prove that the amount of money that is spent on exploration of space is too big in comparison with the use it brings. As to the future dangers – we do not face them yet. And most of them seem to be just good examples of information manipulation. I have always stood for development of science. I think it is the driver of progress. There are so many spheres of our life that require rapid investigation and considerable money flows, that if compared to them, spending money on space exploration seems to be a waste.

Shakespeare shows that he is firstly a villain as he is spoken about in a conversation between Salarnio and Salerio. They describe him as dog Jew, automatically we see him as the bad man of the play. We then sympathize with Shylock as he tells us how he was poorly treated, You call me misbeliever, cut throat dog, and spit upon my Jewish gabardine. He states that Antonio had looked down on him, spat on him, turned his friends against him and prevented him from making business for the simple reason of being a Jew. Remembering in recent history of the Holocaust we sympathize with him. When the time comes that Antonio asks a favour of Shylock he immediately seeks revenge. In case Antonio does not pay back the 3,000 ducats that he is to borrow Shylock demands an equal pound of your fair flesh off and taken in what part of the body pleaseth me. Here our opinion of Shylock is a negative one, as he wants his flesh as pay back and a pound of flesh would be of no use to him. Our opinion then becomes stronger of Shylock being a villain as Jessica his daughter talk of living with him is like hell, our house is hell and thou a merry devil. Shylock then hears news of Antonios ships, and is delighted that it is wrecked, as then Antonio would not be able to pay him back. Then whiles talking too Salarnio he asks what use to him is the pound of flesh? Shylock answers to bait fish. This makes you think that what a pointless way to want flesh. He then says that a Jew is a lot like a Christian they have the same hands, organs, dimensions as humans, eat the same food, feel the same pain, hurt with the same weapons and so on. He justifies his intentions to have vent ion by saying that if a Jew was to wrong to wrong a Christian they would seek revenge and therefore if a Christian was to wrong a Jew he should do the same. We are then left to make our own opinions of Shylock. Shakespeare makes us feel sorry for Shylock and not appearing racist making us feel like he is picked on and that hes the real victim. During the court scene Shylock refuses to show any sign of mercy towards Antonio. Because of that we get the overall impression that he is heartless, self-centred and cruel. I say this because he wanted revenge in one man for cultural reasons and religion for what had happened to him in the past. Also he enforced his beliefs in his actions towards Jessica from the way he talked about Christians as bad people and stopped her from seeing the partys and other social gatherings, which in the end caused her to run away. Not forgetting that he also showed no mercy and would had been heartless enough to kill Antonio.

Creative writing piece Essay It was a week before Christmas day in the year 1776. The wind was cold and hard as it brushed past my face. I felt a chill run through my spine, but for the glowing sun, the cold would have been unbearable. Why wont God give me a break? , I thought. I was thinking about something, how the problem we were faced with would be solved, even if only temporarily. As the wind rushed by and I stood there thinking deeply, it came to me all of a sudden. After that, I pondered over and over a plan until I had it perfected to the last detail, then I simulated the results in my head. Ninety-nine times out of hundred it failed, but that one time it didnt fail provided me with enough hope. Moreover, you dont undergo a revolution without taking some risks. I thought about how my plan would diminish British and Hessian power and cause them to take us, the Revolution and I, seriously. Just in August I remembered, my army had being exhausted, demoralized and uncertain of its future. We had been invaded by British and Hessian troops and we hadnt been ready for them. We were forced to desperately escape to the island of Manhattan. However, the British had followed us to Manhattan and compelled us to retreat again, this time across the Hudson River to New Jersey. The British had followed in hot pursuit, chasing us through New Jersey and by December had forced us to abandon the state and cross the Delaware into Pennsylvania. They believed they had won, they believed they had crushed the revolution. In my head, I had accepted defeat but in my heart the American pride was hurt. It didnt want to accept defeat, at least not like, by cowering away from our enemies. We needed to stand up, dust ourselves off and give it another go, facing the problem head on, no more running and no more escaping. It was our time to attack! They needed to know that the revolution was more than just an annoyance or small pest. We were the real deal, I thought to myself. Hence I had to mobilize the army fast. A majority of my army were mercenaries and their contracts were to expire at the end of the month to return to their homes. An additional problem was that two of my armies had not made it back yet. I quickly devised a plan. We were going to attack the Hessian-held town of Trenton just across the Delaware River. We planned all week. I had five to six thousand men at my disposal, though many of them were unfit for battle. Even though this was a large number, we had a lot of men who deserted us and left the army and the remaining soldiers were low on morale. Something drastic needed to happen to life the hearts of the soldiers unless the cause was lost, because only I still had the passion and desire burning, and I so desperately wanted to ignite there flames of passion too. Since her birth Pakistan has been ruled by various leaders both civilian and military and has experienced different governing systems. This paper will discuss the 59 year developments of the country and the leaders who took part in these developments and the leaders who reacted to these developments. The paper will also identify the two most effective leaders of Pakistan.Early Post-Independence Period:The early post-independence period of Pakistan is marked by political instability and loss of leadership. The founder of the Nation and the first governor general Mohammad Ali Jinnah died a year later in September, 1948, but his firm standing for making Urdu the sole national language of the country has already sparked anger in East Pakistan. Liaqat Ali Khan his successor tried to draft a constitution but was assassinated in 1951.   Kwaj ah Nazimuddin became his successor while Gulam Muhammad became the governor-general. The Constitutional Assembly tried to balance the power by taking some executive powers from the governor-general, but the governor-general dissolved the assembly and two generals Iskander Mirza and Mohammad Ayub Khan were introduced in the prime minister’s cabinet.In 1955 Iskander Mirza replaced Ghulam Muhammad as governor-general. The new Prime Minister Chaudhry Mohammad Ali finally convinced the politicians to agree on the constitutional draft which was officially sanctioned in February, 1956. The same year Prime Minister Chaudhry Mohammad Ali was forced to resign when he lost majority in the assembly because of a revolt against him by his Muslim League parliamentarians. Suhrawardy then attained office as a successor of Mohammad Ali but soon President Iskander Mirza suspended the constitution and a dispute over the constitution forced Suhrawardy to resign.First Military Government:Dissatisf ied by the politicians and the working of the democracy in 1958 President Iskander Mirza announced the abolition of political parties and the abrogation of the constitution. He announced that the country is under martial law and General Mohammad Ayub Khan is the Chief Martial Law administrator. Later Ayub Khan assumed the post of prime minister while three generals were entitled for ministries in the cabinet. In English the two films I have watched recently are: The Pearl of Death and The Scarlet Claw. I enjoyed the film: The Pearl of Death because it is based upon the story The Adventure of the Six Napoleons. The film was made in 1944 in Hollywood, and is updated to the 1940s London in the Blitz. Sherlock Holmes is in disguise very often. He looks realistic to the person he is imitating and there is no recognition of his original form. The unique feature in the film is the introduction of the Hoxton Creeper. In the story the villain is Beppo but we see Rando Hatton performing as the Hoxton Creeper in the film. Holmes calls the Hoxton Creeper a monster with the chest of a buffalo and the arms of a gorilla. This is an exciting way to describe the Creeper this makes us want to see what the Creeper looks like, and when we see him we are not disappointed. The Creeper adds an excellent dimension to the story. He always appears in shadowy places and he is an enormous actor who suffers from acromegaly. This is a progressive glandular deformity which causes enlargement of the extremities. This makes the film more deadly. The Hoxton Creepers face is only seen at the end of the film he moves in silhouette through all the scenes. This is good positioning of the camera. This creates hesitancy. Our teacher said the film was horrifying and it gave him nightmares when he was a boy. These days films are much more graphic and give many watchers more of a shock. The Creeper goes on to break the backs of people who own a bust of Napoleon, because in one of the busts is hidden the famous Borgia pearl. He smashes the bust and other plates to cover up what he is hoping to find. Rondo Hatton spent his formative years in Tampa, Florida. Once he graduated from his High school, he fought in World War 1. This led to him being gassed in 1917 and his health deteriorated. Hatton worked as a newspaper reporter. He was later noticed for the film industry in the mid 1930s and he realized he had the potential of himself featuring in Hollywood films. His political power was not his strong point, but with the creation of the religion, and the vast change in art forms, Akhenaten will never be forgotten. Amenhotep IV, the name Akhenaten was born with, was the son of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III and Amenhotep IIIs second wife Tiye (Vansten 6). Amenhotep III was the great-grandson of the famous conquer Thutmose III (Editora, Part I 1), who had gained enormous amounts of land and respect from North Africa and the Middle East, and because he was, the glory that his great-grandfather produced, was laid onto him (Redford 34). Tiye was the Great Kings Wife until one of their daughters, Sat-amun, was elevated higher then she was (Redford 36). During this marriage, Amenhotep III and Tiye produced two boys and six girls (Redford 36). Amenhotep IV was the second of the boys, and was born c. 1385 BC (Redford 36) Aminadab, the Hebrew equal to Amenhotep, lived and was educated in the eastern delta region, where Egyptian priests of Ra taught him about Amun, and the other important deities such as Aten (Vansten 6). After he was educated in the eastern delta region, he went to live in Thebes for his teenage years (Redford 24-25). Not much is known about his teenage or adolescent years, but many scholars believe that during his stay in Thebes, he became involved with a Ra cult, that worshiped the god Amun. Many believe this is where Amenhotep IV began to believe in the iconology such as the sun disk (Redford 170). During this time frame, circa 1368 BC, Amenhotep III became seriously ill, and could not continue governing Egypt without help (Vansten 6). Therefor, Amenhotep IV, who was the only male still in the direct hereditary line, sense his older brother was dead, was pronounced to marry Nefertiti, who was the daughter of Ay and Tey (Redford 222). Nefertiti was a niece of Tiye and Ay was a close friend of Amenhotep III, so it would easily come that Nefertiti and Amenhotep IV should rule as a co-regent until the death of Amenhotep III, so that the power could be buttressed (Aldred 170). There is some speculation during the co-regency, as to whether Nefertiti held a higher position then Amenhotep IV, but it is known that when Amenhotep III died, Amenhotep IV took over as Pharaoh, with Nefertiti being his chief queen (Aldred 178). After taking control of the throne in 1346, Amenhotep IV transferred the city of rule from Thebes to a new city called Armana (Akhen-taten)(Giuliano 2). Supposedly, Armana was the only spot in Egypt where the old religion had not tainted it (Hawkins Who 1), and where the natural surroundings outlined the city with a sun-disk-like design (Aldred 269). It took him a record four years to bring the entire capital cabinet, statues, and citizen population from the old city to the new (Ross 3). Once Amenhotep IV had settled into his new city, he changed his name from Amenhotep IV to Akhenaten, in recognition of the sun god Aten in 1344 BC (Hawkins Akhenaten's Life 2).
